Description: This following tour is rich with activities and nature. You will be taken to the places where you can see Gobi-Khangai /desert and mountainous/ natural postures. Travel to birthplace of 70 millions year old dinosaur ride Central Asian two back camel through the sand dunes. Visit the old capital city Khar Khorum where you will find the well known monastery called Erdene Zuu which has many years of history.

The tour will take you to the Khustai National Park beautiful sight of Mongolia which aims to preserve the wild Mongolian zebras and you will be able to see the well preserved tradition and culture inherited from the ancient times for the free time you have chance to ride horse. After traveling through countryside we will spend time to enjoy the capital city, visit historical places museums and of course there will be time for shopping cashmere products for winter and souvenirs too.

 


 

DAY 1.  Ulaanbaatar city

We will pick you up from Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Drop off at booked hotel for check in. /Rest at the hotel/

DAY 2.  Ulaanbaatar city – South Gobi province – Yol valley

Have a breakfast at the hotel venue. Prepare to depart to South Gobi province capital Dalanzadgad by domestic flight. Tour will take you to the Yol valley of  East great mountain which is located at deserted part of South Gobi province’s Dalanzadgad soum. The valley is the home for the endangered animals such as snow leopard, wild mountain sheep, ibex, marten, blacktail.

DAY 3. Yol valley – Khongor Sand Dunes

Prepare to depart to Khongor sand dunes. The Gobi desert is rich with beautiful natures and sightseeing and one of them is Khongor Sand Dunes, stretches to 185 km to the Sevrei northern valley and Zuulun mountain ranges. This beautiful sand dunes can reach up to 20-30 meters and when its windy it might give you a wonderful music played by the sand movements

DAY 4.  Khongor Sand - Bayanzag

After breakfast depart from Khongor Sand to place called Bayanzag which is 30 km away and has beautiful natural posture as known for its cliffs that red as flaming fire in the sunrise and sunset. The flaming cliffs were named after the tree that covers the cliff area.

The Saksual Tree that covers the cliff area can be the durable material for locals and become food for the live-stick in needed times. The Saksual tree can be 0.5 meters up to 10-20 meters. On top of that the place is known for its archeological findings of dinosaurs, which had been preserved well after millions of years.

DAY 5.  Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery

Depart from beautiful Bayanzag pass by Mandal – Ovoo and arrive at Saikha – Ovoo soum. The Ongi Lake is one of the branch lakes that takes it start from Khangai Mountains and ends at Red lake traveling for 437 km land.

The Ongi monastery is well known by its two complex temples in the north and south banks of Ongi river. The southern bank 11 temples have a history older than the north bank. They both have more than 300 and 22 year old history together.

DAY 6.  Ongi Monastery – Khar Khorum city

After breakfast move on to old capital of Mongolian Khar Khorum.

In Mongolian history Khar Khorum was the very first capital city, where the great adventurer Marco Polo had visited. The history of the old capital city starts, between 1220-1380.

The Chinggis Khaan has ordered to make Khar Khorum the capital of the Mongol Empire since 1220 the building process had begun. After the death of Chinggis Khaan his inherit Ogoodei Khaan continued his prophecy and made the Khar Khorum capital a flourishing trade city. The magnificence of the city had been mentioned in Marco Polos travel note and in Mongolian Secret History. The most important, trade stop of historical Silk Road, able to visit one of the ancient monasteries called Erdenezuun Monestary.

Erdenezuun Monestary - Long after the ruins of the Khar Khorum city, in 1586, the 29th generation of Chinggis Khaan, Abtaisain Khaan he started to rebuild the oldest monastery known for today. Erdenezuu monastery was known as the biggest and the largest monastery, the population developed to 62 temples, over 500 gers and houses resided by 10000 monks in 400x400 m walls, by 1793.

In 19th century due to the communist power most of the monasteries were destroyed and monks being killed and Ernedezuu was one of the temples. After the mass destruction only 28th temples of Erdenzuu monastery are preserved and serves as a museum, the oldest temple of Mongolia in Tibetan style which is active in our days.   The most fascinating part is the architectural structure of the monastery, where the Tibetan, Chinese and Mongolians have constructed the monastery without using a single nail.

DAY 7.  Khar Khorum – Khustai National Park

After the breakfast tour will take you to Khustai National Park. The park is protectedarea where endangered animals are treated and nurtured as in a wild life. The park itself named after the main animal called Khustai the wild Mongolian Zebra and other habitats such as snow leopard, dear, ibex etc.

DAY 8.  Khustai National Park – Mongol Nomadic - Ulaanbaatar

Tour will take you to Naadam festival where you will see the true nomadic celebration, wrestling, archery, horse race and Mongolian traditional competition and even you can enjoy riding horse, yak, camel and participate in making the felt as it used to back in the old days. Later on we will move on to Ulaanbaatar city from Ugii Lake.

DAY 9.  Ulaanbaatar city

Spend a day to know the capital city. Places included in our itinerary:

The Sukhbaatar square the center point of the city. At the center of the square you will find 4 meter tall statue of commander D. Sukhbaatar, north side of the square you can see the Mongolian Government Palace. In the front of the Palace you will see the 5.4 meter tall statue of our Chinggis Khaan the father of Great Mongol Empire.

 

National Museum of Mongolia is the only museum which contains exhibit that shows the pure nature of our Mongolian tradition and nomadic culture, history with overall 50,000 exhibits in 10 halls.

Next destination takes us to Gandan Monastery where you will see magnificent Janraisag goddess which is 26,5 meters tall statue built from 27 tons of steel, 7500 of sheet gold, over 2000 different type of gems.

At the end you will be taken to Mongolian folk concert, where you will enjoy the unique techniques of throat singing, folk song, contortion performance, Mongolian horse head string instrument performance.
